Action may be required on your DBS Update Service Account.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, all MCYC volunteers are required to hold a valid DBS certificate that has been applied for through MCYC.

To help us manage this efficiently, we ask all volunteers to register with the Government’s DBS Update Service. This allows us to carry out the necessary annual checks at no cost to you—or to MCYC.

If you’re not on the Update Service, then a new DBS certificate is required from time to time. MCYC is charged an admin fee by our provider for this. We’re happy to cover the cost the first time, but if you choose not to register for the Update Service—or let your free subscription lapse—we will need to pass on the cost of any future DBS checks to you.

Recent Update from the Government

The Government recently informed Update Service users that accounts will now be automatically closed if there is no login activity.

Here’s an example of what many of you may have received:

Please make sure you log in to your DBS Update Service account before your renewal date and keep your account active by selecting the ‘Renew subscription’ link.

Your current year subscription to the Update Service will end on [Date]

If you wish to remain a member, you must log in and renew your subscription before this date.

If you do not renew on time, your subscription will expire. You’ll then need to apply for a new DBS check and create a new Update Service subscription from scratch.

Gov UK

If you do not renew your subscription on or before this date then it will expire.

Thank you for your continued commitment to serving at MCYC. If you have any questions or need help with your DBS, feel free to get in touch.

With Thanks,
